This home design was a concept project for international clients. We worked with them to flesh out ideas at a conceptual level, offering them a direction to explore and build from. After the client took the plans and worked with a local architect to move the idea from concept to reality, while meeting the local codes and laws of their region.
The lot sports beautiful territorial views of mountain scenery. In the spirit of the location we designed a home that follows mountain architecture, capturing the views, and ensuring sufficient light through the family home. We wanted to ensure that many windows, and greenhouse glass in the ceiling, helped to bring in natural light and connect the interior to the outdoors.
In the great room we have an open concept kitchen, along with an island that doubles as a dining area to conserve square footage and ensure sufficient seating in the living area.
A breakfast nook sits off of the kitchen, offering an additional cozy spot for meals. Vaulted ceilings, set by multiple heavy timber trusses, bring a lofty and natural feel to the interior. The master bedroom and great room share a chimney, each offering a fireplace for the occupants. Because of the desire for natural light into the home, we put windows on three sides of the master bedroom, and added greenhouse glass in the ceiling.
The living room opens to a covered porch, sporting an impressive timber truss. For the sake of efficiency, the kid’s rooms are more economical in square footage, offering a palace for rest but allowing for generous square footage in the living spaces.
The main bathroom offers a sauna and hot-tub surrounded by greenery and vegetation, and has large windows to let in the light.
This concept was a great opportunity to work with an international client and represented an opportunity to connect as part of the process in bringing their dreams to reality.
