Rock Creek

This French country design hearkens back to a previous age where such homes elicited memories of farmhouse living; a quieter time to exist closer to the land and its food sources. The appeal of country living, of closeness to the soil, is the draw that ties together small family farms from our past to the present.

I worked with the owners to bring the farm house aesthetic to reality on their Idaho acreage as they were looking for a slower pace of life. Both parents also work from home, and wanted to raise their kids with more elbow room in a country home. .

For their budget, it was important to maximize space in a smaller home. The primary home contains four bedrooms, an open interior floor plan, and economical use of primary living spaces. The apartment is separate from the home, with an exterior entrance, and a separate garage bay.

The design brings old world charm together with a tasteful touch of modern. Twin gables greet visitors as they arrive, and an apartment over the garage provides more options for guests or supplemental income. We took special care in the overall style to ensure that the home compliments the nearby Palouse hills, conifers, and rivers aspens.
